Common Royalty Period Issues and How to Fix Them

Duplicate Sales Files

Have you accidentally reported the same sales file twice? If the sales amount is small enough to handle in your next period (rather than doing a full recalculation), here's what to do:

  1. Download the original file
  2. Create a copy and add "reversal" to the copy’s filename
  3. Change all numeric values (Units, Amounts, Prices) to negative numbers by multiplying by -1 to cancel out the duplicate sales
  4. Upload this reversal file to Tone and copy the setup from your original file
  5. Include this reversal file in your next calculation

Inaccurate Sales File or Template Errors

If you made mistakes while processing a sales file, like forgetting to apply a distribution fee or mapping invalid configurations incorrectly:

  1. First, create a reversal file (as described above) to cancel out the original incorrect file
  2. Upload this reversal file to Tone and copy the setup from your original file
  3. Create another copy of the original file and add "correction" to the copy’s filename
  4. Upload the correction file to Tone and process as normal, making any corrections as needed in the sales template.
  5. Include both the reversal file and correction file in your next calculation

Missing Sales File

If you forgot to add a sales file that should have been included, simply add it to your next calculation period. This is typically the best solution unless the amount is exceptionally large and/or the next period will not be run for many months. In this case, you may consider running a recalculation.

If your sales files and catalog mappings are correct, but the sales rate on a contract was entered incorrectly:
