Tone can read a contract PDF and automatically create a draft contract pre-filled with the payee's name, role, royalty rates, cost rates, deductions, advance, and more. You still review and confirm everything before the contract goes live, but the AI does the heavy lifting of reading the document.
This feature is free for now. Functionality and pricing may change and your feedback shapes what comes next.
Before you start
- The PDF must be a digital (text-based) file — not a scan or photo of a printed contract. Tone cannot read scanned images. If you upload a scanned PDF, you will see a message explaining that the file is missing extractable text.
- Only files that Tone has classified as "contract" will show the Create contract draft button.
- You can import contracts for Main Artists, Side Artists, Producers, and Co-Writers.
How to import a contract from PDF
- Go to Contract tools then Import contracts from PDF in the left navigation.
- Click Add files and upload your contract PDF (or drag and drop it).
- Wait for Tone to classify the file. Once the status shows Complete and the file is labelled as a contract, a Create contract draft button appears on the right.

- Click Create contract draft. The button changes to Extracting contract... while Tone reads the PDF — this usually takes 15–30 seconds.

- When extraction is complete, the file moves to the Imported tab and a View contract button appears. Click it to open the draft.
