At Tone, we know how important it is for artists to receive their payments promptly. Here is the path your royalties take to get to your bank account.
✅ Step 1: Get Verified
Before we can send any funds, we need to verify your account. It only takes a few minutes!
- Action: Log in here and fill in your banking and tax info on the Payee Settings page. If you need assistance, click here to find out how to correctly set up your Tone account.
🧮 Step 2: Label Processing
Once your info is in, we wait for your label to "crunch the numbers." This involves calculating sales against costs, advances, and collaborator splits. We work closely with labels to make this as smooth as possible.
🏦 Step 3: Payday!
After your royalty statement has been calculated and published in your Tone account, your label will initiate the payment.
- U.S. Accounts: Funds typically arrive within 1–3 business days.
- International Accounts: Funds typically arrive within 3–5 business days.
💸 Transfer fees may apply depending on the payment method and your location. These are deducted from your payout before funds reach your account. See Tone Payment Processing Fees for a full breakdown.
🔍 Understanding Your Payment Status
You can track the progress of your money by looking at the status of your statement in the Tone portal:
- Not Funded: Your label has not yet funded the royalty statement. We are currently waiting for them to do so.
- Carried Forward: Your balance has moved to the next royalty period. This usually happens if your balance is below the payout threshold (e.g., $10) or if your account wasn't verified when the label issued payments. This could also mean that the contract of the main artist associated with the project is not fully recouped yet. You can reach out to the label directly to find out more information.
