⚙️ Sales File Processing Troubleshooting
If you are encountering issues while processing your sales file in Tone, consult the common solutions below.
🛠️ Common Processing Issues and Solutions
1. My sales file does not contain territories (country names)
If your sales data is missing territory or country information, you can hardcode a standard value for all sales lines within the file.
- Step 1: Navigate to the Cleaned Data tab within the sales file view.
- Step 2: Under the Territory column header, click the Pick a source dropdown menu and select Custom rules.
- Step 3: The Rules side panel will pop up.
- Step 4: Next to the USE condition, select "Hardcoded value" from the “Pick a source” dropdown.
- Step 5: In the field next to Hardcoded value, type the name of the territory you'd like to assign the sales lines to (e.g., "WW" for worldwide, or a specific country code if you know the file is limited to one region).
- Step 6: Click “Save & validate.” Your blank territory cells should now be converted to the hardcoded value you set.
- Recommended Value: We typically recommend using "WW" (Worldwide) if territory info is generally missing.
2. My sales file lists full country names, not ISO codes
Tone requires ISO country codes for territory identification (ex: "US" for United States of America or "GB" for the United Kingdom of Great Britain). You can easily re-format the full country names in your file to their corresponding ISO codes.
- Step 1: Ensure you have selected the correct column from the Original Data that contains the full country names.
- Step 2: Click "Edit Data" on the Cleaned Data tab under the Territory column.
- Step 3: On the rules side panel, click the "+" next to the existing rule. This will add a THEN line under your USE line.
