Sales File Processing Glossary
Understanding royalty sales data can be complex. This glossary defines the specific terms used within Tone to help you navigate the Sales tool with confidence.
⚙️ File Setup
- File Name: The name of the uploaded statement.
- Status: Indicates the current stage of the file:
- Ready: Prepared for reporting.
- Processing: The system is currently reading the data.
- In Progress: Some tabs are mapped, but further action is required.
- Auto Ready: This file auto-matched to a template and there are no errors or invalid values.
- Upload Date: When the file was added to Tone.
- File Source: The DSP or distributor providing the sales statement (e.g., Ditto, AWAL, The Orchard). File Sources are custom, created by you.
- This is the Source reflected in the Sales Explorer and Timeline.
- Report Date: The time period for which the sales statement was created, typically the month you received the statement and corresponding payment. This may differ from the sales dates reported in the file.
- The Report Date determines where these earnings are allocated on the Timeline, and can also be used to filter in the Sales Explorer.
✏️ Edit Sheets
- Original Data: The "raw" data exactly as it appears in your file before any processing, mapping, or standardization takes place.
- Cleaned Data: The final version of your data after it has been standardized and mapped to Tone’s format.
- When a file is added to a royalty period, the Cleaned Data is your calculation input.
- Header Row: The specific row number in your spreadsheet where the column titles (e.g., "Song Title," "Net Amount") are located.
- First Data Row: The specific row number where the actual sales transactions begin. Tone uses this to know where to start "reading" the data.
