If you’ve received a royalty statement but haven't seen the funds in your bank account, don’t worry! There is always a clear reason for this, and your royalties are safe.
🔍 Common Reasons for No Payment
Your label is responsible for funding your royalty statements through Tone. If a payment wasn't triggered, it is usually due to one of the following:

Unrecouped Costs: Your contract may still be recovering an advance or recording/marketing costs. If your statement has a negative balance and looks like this, no payment is due yet:

Account Setup Incomplete: If your banking or tax information is not fully verified in Tone, we cannot legally release the funds to you. If you don’t see this Verified badge on the Statements page in Tone, you still have work to do!

Prior Overpayment: A previous miscalculation may have been adjusted, affecting your current balance.

Payment Thresholds: Some labels set a minimum amount (e.g., $10 or $50) before a payout is triggered.
✅ What You Should Do
- Check Your Setup: Ensure your bank and tax info are 100% complete. Learn how to set up your account here.
- Review the Statement: Look at the "New Balance" on your most recent statement. If it’s positive and you haven't been paid, proceed to step 3.
- Contact Your Label: If your account is verified and your balance is positive, reach out to your label to see if the statement has been funded yet.

- Automatic Rollover: If you are owed a payment but it wasn't processed (for example, because your account wasn't verified in time), those funds will automatically roll over to your next statement.
- Next Payout: You will be paid the full accumulated amount during the next royalty period that your label funds.
